Tibetan Bön Buddhist Society - Non-profit Status
The Tibetan Bön Buddhist Society is a registered non profit, tax-exempt charity administered by volunteers. We are located on Vancouver Island in Courtenay, B.C., Canada. We rely and appreciate the support of donors, students and supportive friends to continue the operation of our centre, Sherab Chamma Ling.
Future plans of our society and centre include the purchase of land and/or buildings to create a Tibetan YungDrung Bön international teaching and retreat centre here on Vancouver Island. Please take a moment to read the outline of all the goals and purposes of our society.
Purpose Of The Tibetan Bön Buddhist Society
- To create and maintain the teaching and meditation retreat centre, "Sherab Chamma Ling"; to preserve Bön, the native religion of Tibet and its culture; to spread Bön teachings by cultivating practitioners and scholars in the west; and, to support and sustain a Spiritual Director and visiting teachers.
- To support and sustain the Spiritual Director/Resident Lama, and visiting teachers.
- To serve the community by providing an environment in which members may benefit themselves and others through the teaching and practice of Buddhist philosophies.
- To provide opportunities and venues for public worship and observance of religious holidays for practicing Buddhists.
- To introduce and broaden Tibetan Bön Buddhism through understanding and undertaking teachings using:
- To purchase land and/or buildings to create a Tibetan YungDrung Bön international teaching and retreat centre known as: Sherab Chamma Ling, Tibetan Bön Buddhist Centre.

In pursuance of the above Objects and to assist in the furtherance thereof whether directly or indirectly, the Society has the powers:
- To raise funds whether by way of fund-raising activities, receipt of gifts, donations, legacies and grants or otherwise to hold, invest, and use them for the promotion of the objects of the Society.
- To acquire lands and buildings by purchase or otherwise for the purpose of establishing a worship centre, teaching and meeting place, and a retreat centre.
- To manage, lease, sell, mortgage, dispose of, or otherwise deal with the property of the Society.
- To provide all necessary equipment and furniture for carrying out the objectives of the Society.
- To do any other lawful thing necessary to further the Society's objects.
